Imagine a world where food security is assured through sustainable practices, logistics technology revolutionises the way we work, and where cutting-edge battery technologies pave the way for greener energy. These visions are not just dreams – they are becoming reality through The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)’s pioneering projects. This year, the 10th anniversary of CUHK Entrepreneur Day was commemorated with a grand exhibition titled “CUHK Innovations · Brightening the Future”, showcasing how innovative solutions can illuminate our lives and address global challenges.
The free public exhibition has run for seven days, showcasing 23 innovative teams from CUHK (List of participating projects), including CUHK’s InnoHK research centres, RAISe+ projects, startup ventures from the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute, and alumni projects. The exhibits covered cutting-edge fields such as medical technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and robotics. Interactive games and STEM workshops engaged the public with firsthand experience of CUHK’s lively entrepreneurial culture. Enthusiastic crowds explored the diverse range of innovations, such as AI chess robots and text-generation robots, celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit that has flourished at CUHK over the past decade.
The opening ceremony was a resounding success, graced by Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong government; Professor John Chai, Chairman of the Council at CUHK; Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, along with CUHK’s senior management, Mr Christopher Kwok Kai-wang, Executive Director of Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, distinguished guests, influential professors, and alumni came together to celebrate this momentous occasion. The “CUHK Entrepreneur Day Milestones” exhibit, spotlighting the remarkable achievements of the past decade, served as a powerful reminder of CUHK’s impact on the entrepreneurial landscape.
The exhibition kicked off a month-long celebration with more events in September. Highlights include Innovation Day on 20 September and Entrepreneur Day from 27 to 28 September. These events will offer exhibitions, thematic lectures, interactive zones, and entrepreneurship competitions on campus. This exciting lineup promises to showcase the dynamic spirit of innovation and creativity that continues to thrive at CUHK.
